Description:
White Tiger Moth with brown circles. The lower one third of the upper wings are clear. This happens in females that have already mated, since the mating process is long and the wings of the male often remove scales from those of the female. The tarsi have metallic blue and the abdomen is orange with metallic blue bands. About 2.5 cm long. This species has an incredible amount of color and pattern variation over it's wide range from Canada to South America. Family Erebidae, Arctiinae.
Habitat:
Came to an ultraviolet light, Finca Argovia, Ruta de Café, Soconusco Area of Chiapas, about 2 hours north of Tapachula.
