Field Notes

Description:

Bright Green With leaf shaped wings. Amazing Mouth has numerous parts resembling a second insect with arms to gather in food.

Habitat:

Forest

Notes:

Sitting out side doing a little studying and this katydid comes flying over. Took a few pictures, as it sat there. It was mostly motionless for quite awhile so I got some nice photos and was gathering up my things to leave: katydid walked over to my wallet and started chowing down on it! Got some awesome closeup video examining the mouth movement. So fascinating! I wish there was a way to share vide on here. The back of the mouth looked like a separate ant-shaped insect and the bottom of the mouth had four little arm-like Feeler parts apparently being used to shovel things into itโ€™s mouth. Enjoyed watching a long time. Donโ€™t know what was so tasty about the wallet though...
