Field Notes

Description:

Body brownish grey above, white below - moderately large dorsal fin, upto 3,70 mtrs in length

Habitat:

Mostly solitary, on depths upto 50 metres, quite curious and may approach you quite near

Notes:

The Galápagos shark looks very much the same as the silky shark, which is more common around Isla de Coco, but the silky shark´s dorsal fins are shorter. Of all the common shark species around Coco Island, this is the one which is most dangerous to humans.
