Description:
Pyramidal shell, conical to globose in shape, consisting of 7 circles. Grey-yellow in colour, with small brownish and blackish rectangular spots. Nearly circular, corneous operculum with many coils and a central nucleus.
Sexes are distinct and fertilization external. Eggs are laid singly in seawater and hatch as free-swimming planktonic larvae, or are bound in gelatinous masses and then frequently hatch as crawling juveniles.
Habitat:
Inhabits rocky bottoms, from the intertidal zone to 5-10 m in depth.
