Field Notes

Description:

On a previous visit here I watched what I assumed were swifts or swiftlets in the evenings flying in and out of the Palm trees but could not get any photos which might provide an ID. This time was almost the same but I did get just one shot showing the top half of a bird, the blue colouration and lack of tail streamers suggesting Pacific Swallow, but no obvious sign of red on the face, unless the head is bowed down. Glossy Swiftlet also has blueish black upperparts so is most likely.

Habitat:

Waterfront palm trees.
