Field Notes

Description:

Fairly robust medium to tall, softly hairy biennial; stems angular, erect, branched above. Leaves oblong to lanceolate, untoothed, densely hairy. Flowers purplish in bud, but opening blue, with conspicuous deeper inky-blue or purple net-veins.

Habitat:

Garrigue in Seih-Sou, the suburban pine forest of Thessaloniki (Greece).

Notes:

Greek name: Κυνόγλωσσο το κρητικό, Κυνόγλωσσον το γραπνόν. Greek common names: Σκυλόγλωσσο, Γοργόγιαννο. Synonym: Cynoglossum pictum
