Field Notes

Description:

I am pretty sure this insect is called a cotton hopper, but I am not so sure. This insect can grow really big. They can jump high and far, so get away from predators. Another thing that is interesting that I found out, is that when the animal sees a bird coming to eat it, they jump away and leave some white evidence of themselves so the birds think that the critter is still there, but it isn't. I thought that, that is a very cool and interesting way of getting away from a predator. This insect has a red face, and once an adult, the insect has black hands and feet, but they are really, really little.
