Description:

A fly being consumed by a fungus. The fly has a green thorax The rest of the body is covered by what looks like white cotton.

Habitat:

Found on the underside of a leaf in our vegetable garden.

Hi tomk3886! A common name that is used for this fungus is Fly Death Fungus. I guess this is a small fly so the legs are long in relation to the body. A good candidate is a Long-legged Fly of Condylostylus sp. https://bugguide.net/node/view/42317

Thanks Jae. It did not move while I observed it. But it was early in the morning when many insects are inactive.
