Field Notes

Description:

The female boat-tailed grackle is about 14" in size. She has a golden brown chest and head with nearly black wings and tail and dark eyes. The male is about 16" in size and is a blue-black bird with a very long keel-shaped tail. Bright yellow eyes.

Habitat:

These boat-tailed grackles were spotted in the marsh at St Marks National Wildlife Refuge in St Marks, Florida.
