Description:

Small terrestrial crustacean.
They are characterised by their ability to roll into a ball when disturbed.
They typically feed on moss, algae, bark and other decaying organic matter. They are usually found in moist areas such as decomposing leaf matter and soil

Habitat:

Bosanka, mountain facing Dubrovnik, near the funicular, Croatia .

Hi MnMs. Just got done posting a spotting of a pillbug (Roly Poly in Midwestern US). I learned quite a bit actually researching them. I learned Roly Polys roll into a tight ball and Sowbug don't. Sowbugs have two appendages from the rear (as yours above does) and Pillbugs don't. Techinically, your spotting here should have the common name "Sowbug." I couldn't find a picture of the species you have but it is an incredible photo of it. Thanks for sharing. PN is continually making me learn.
