Field Notes

Description:

Flat fish. Oval, elongated and wide body. Eyes on the right side of the body. The dorsal and anal fins are joined to the caudal fin by a membrane. Light cinnamon brown coloration. Up to 60 cm in length.

Habitat:

I found it at the bottom of the shallow waters of the salt lagoon of the Mar Menor. She had her guts hanging out, but she could still swim. Possibly it was attacked by a blue crab that has been breeding quite a bit here lately.
