Field Notes

Description:

These are Wood Frog Eggs. Breeding lasts only a week or two. Last week I discovered 1,000s of Wood Frogs mating and calling. This week most are gone so I was able to distinguish these large clusters of eggs as the Wood frog with confidence. They are clustered in one area of an abandoned quarry.

Habitat:

Vernal pools of water. No fish.
