Field Notes

Description:

Also known as hedge accentor, hedge sparrow, or hedge warbler; this is a sparrow sized discreet bird, mainly brown and dark-grey and easy to oversee owing to its drab colours...

Habitat:

Seen in mountainous region north of Tbilisi, and very close to Russian border. Coniferous forests and cold-climate grasslands in valleys on some 2000 m of altitude, on edges of urban habitations.

Notes:

Another spotting from Georgia, wrongly ID-ed in the first round - because of its drab colours, I, at first thought it was a young Black redstart - there were one or two that day at the same spot and in my pics... as Redstarts were Veerrrryyyy common around, I didn't bother enough with pics. Thanks to good and vigilant people volunteering at eBird (Thank you M Christian Gönner), I was able to clear up my mess...
