Description:

Adults are several inches long and have distinctive red legs attached to an otherwise dark purple-ish body.

Habitat:

Mountain forests of the southeastern U.S.

Notes:

This species was formally considered a sub-species of Jordan's salamander until DNA testing proved its distinctiveness.
