Field Notes

Description:

Easy to recognize male with the heavy black mustache, collar and the black crown where the feathers over the eyes a resemble horns. Face is yellow, and light brown back.

Habitat:

I usually see these on the ground in the open. But these were perching on posts along the roadside with the Savannah Sparrows and Meadowlarks.
