Description:

Snail: I went outside at 11:00 a.m. in the morning, and I saw a small snail, resting on a wall, on the outside of my house. The color of this snail, was different shades of brown. This snail was three eights of an inch wide, and one half of an inch long. It had five whorls on its shell. This snail had three white lines, going around the shell. These white lines, were made up of dashes. Each line was made up of white dashes. Phylum: Mollusca Class: Gastropoda The snail is a small to medium sized Mollusca, that is generally split into three groups, which are: land snails, sea snails, and freshwater snails. Snail, is a common name, that is applied most often to land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod molluscs. However, the common name "snail", is also applied to most of the members of the molluscan class Gastropoda, that have a coiled shell, that is large enough for the animal to retract completely in. Snails tend to feed on a wide variety of items, found in there natural habitat. What they will actually consume, depends on where they live, and the species of snail. When the word "snail" is used in this most general sense, it includes not just land snails, but thousands of species of sea snails, and freshwater snails.

Habitat:

The snail is found on every continent on Earth, with the possible exception of Antartica. Although snails are found across a wide variety of habitats, they are most commonly spotted, lunching in areas where there is plenty of vegetation. Snails can be found in a very wide range of environments, including ditches, deserts, and the abyssal depths of the sea. Snails can live on the ground, or in trees, or move between both. They can live in a wide range of temperatures, from cool mountain tops, to steamy jungles.
