Field Notes
Description:
Grey bird with a distinctive crest, measuring about 50 cm in length. Has a short, curved beak which it uses to pluck fruit and insects out of treetops. They can be recognized from afar by their loud warning calls, which resemble 'kweh' or 'go-away'.
Habitat:
Savannah, woodlands; near water.
Notes:
Photo taken at Neuras Wine & Wildlife Estate, Usakos. I found whole flocks of these birds on the estate, especially near a small pool.
