Field Notes

Habitat:

Poinsett State Park, sandhills region of South Carolina: an unusual low-altitude setting (200 FASL) as this is typically found in mountainous areas as the common name suggests.

Notes:

Interesting juxtaposition of Mountain laurel (a mountain species) and Spanish moss (associated with the coastal plain). Currently (April 22) blooming at this location.
