Field Notes

Description:

The Oxyopes javanus (Lynx Spider) was spotted, a few inches away from its intended prey on a Tropical Whiteweed. It was obvious what was going to happen and I thought I would be able to take a photo of the moment of the attack. However, when the spider grabbed hold of the Amata sp. (Wasp Moth), it was so fast that I missed it, but I did get a shot of the moth in the spider's grasp.

Habitat:

The Lynx Spider and its prey, the Wasp Moth were spotted on a tangle of Tropical White Weed (Ageratum conyzoides) on a patch of land between rice fields.
