Description:
Really neat wind blown seed with large membranous wings. The pods are longer than a hand and green. When dry, the top slits off and seeds which are aligned in a row down the pod are released with the wind, bottom ones first. Now is close to the end of the dry season.
Habitat:
Bushy area at the edge of the Miguel Alvaro de Torres Zoo, Tuxtla Gutierrez.
Notes:
I am not sure if the plant is a bush or small tree. This one was low growing, with the pods close to the ground. Sorry the picture is so bad, I should have checked it. At least it gives an idea of the shape of the pods, both green and brown.
