Field Notes

Description:

Swamp Sparrow? I'm not great at identifying sparrows. It was found in a cattail stand, where it would fly up and down from a taller tree to sing. The song was a trill that sounded similar to a chipping sparrow, only a little deeper. I thought it might have been a chipping sparrow, but the bird seemed much bigger, and the marking seem different.

Habitat:

Marsh
