Hello. Since you have already identified your snake as a gopher snake, why not complete your spotting by filling in the Scientific name, Pituophis catenifer? Based on range it may even be Pituophis catenifer annectens - the San Diego Gopher Snake annectens. http://www.californiaherps.com/snakes/pages/p.c.annectens.html
