Field Notes

Description:

Males are more brown whereas the females are a more gray butterflies with 4 spots on the outer forewing and 2 more slightly spaced out spots slightly closer to the body. They tend to settle in the sun with wings spread.

Habitat:

They can be found near oak trees (caterpillars eat oak leaves)

Notes:

I saw a have a dozed today and they were all spotted with wings open on various leaves and on the ground.
