Carolina Wren

Series: This spotting or experience has been one of my favorites this year. I was originally trying to photograph a little Black-capped Chickadee that was hanging upside down from a tree branch when this little Carolina Wren kept flying into my shot. So finally I decided to turn my attention to him instead. What I didn't realize at first, was that I was sitting within arm's reach of a nest he was building. I watched for nearly an hour as this little wren would fly off (still within sight) and would tug at different grasses and moss, trying to uproot them to bring back. He must have made 30 trips as I watched, while not really showing any real care that I was sitting there. Only a couple times did he stop or peek at me real quick before continuing with his big chore.
