Field Notes

Description:

Medium sized bird, some 35 to 40 cm in length, all black except for the white bill and facial shield. It also has grey legs with a very long toes, equipped with special kind of webbing. Juvenile birds (Photos 1 and 3) do not have facial shields, and show whitish chest and bellies. Noisy bird, and not very secretive.

Habitat:

Lake Geneva, urban environment.
