Field Notes

Description:

Sprawling, brushy plant with short, prickly leaves. Stems, pale green with reddish lateral stripes. Uniquely shaped flowers with bright pink sepals (see images). Native to Eurasia.

Habitat:

Heckscher State Park. Seashore dune area. Often grows in disturbed habitats.
