Description:

These photos were taken from a distance, so they're not very clear. Is it a mallard drake, Anas platyrhynchos, with unusual plumage? Leucism? A hybrid? Or just a kind of duck I don't recognize? It was paddling around with a group of mallards, see second photo. Thoughts?

Habitat:

Lake at a municipal park

The link you sent was really interesting ... and "Anas platyrhynchos x ?" it is, then. Thanks again.
Anas platyrhynchos x ?

Appreciate your help. One more question, and I'll stop! How would I indicate, in the scientific name, that it's a mallard hybrid whose exact makeup is unknown?
Almost difficult to tell. The head and body I've seen on two different mallard hyrbids but not together like this.
Thanks, Jellis. Mallard and ... what? Can you tell?
