Field Notes

Description:

A dark slate coloured snail about 17mm wide and equally long. It had a depressed spire which appeared to be eroded and white. The shell on some had shallow ridges while others were smooth with thin lines from spire to base.

Habitat:

Seen on coastal rock pools along eastern, south and south west Australia. Most common snail on exposed rocks.

Notes:

I would like to call this snail "black-board and white chalk" becuase of the shell and eroded spire.
They are very common on exposed rocks and treading around on rocks is quite likely to damage them.
