Description:
I was walking down the ramp when I looked down and saw one diving in the water, presumably looking for clams or other food. When it came up it swam to the dock and there were three more there! I usually just see one at a time, and I definitely see them a lot less than sea otters here so it was a surprise to see four together at once. They were very active and frolicking around, and all jumped in the water together when they noticed me.
Habitat:
Near a ramp on some fishing docks with mostly commercial and charter fishing boats.
Notes:
They are very good swimmers, and swim between the tiny little islands around town. If you visit some of the smaller islands/bigger rocks offshore but close to town you can find their slides and toilets as evidence they like to spend a lot of time there.
