Field Notes

Description:

Distinct orange or yellow dorsal stripe, with gray ground color; yellow throat

Habitat:

Typically associated with aquatic habitats such as stock ponds

Notes:

California endemic. Sometimes occurs in high densities; probably due to scarcity of aquatic habitat. I observed predation on California tiger salamander larvae.
