Description:
It is common everywhere on the island up to about 3500 feet except in North. It may be seen in large numbers in open fields and grasslands, particularly close to waterways such as rice fields, canals, tanks and marshy areas. It is more habitat specific species than the other pansies and hence has become the least common of the pansies. It is not plentiful but may be found throughout the year.

Notes:
This butterflies have a strong gliding flight but settles quite often continuing a slow but deliberate flapping of its wings. It is known to join migratory flights. Its behavior is very similar to that of the other pansies except when laying eggs.
The larvae feed on members of the Acanthaceae such as Asteracantha longifolia andBarleria spp.
