Thanks Michael for the ID. Well researched. Interesting beetle with its truncated elytra. I've seen a few times usually without my camera or unable to get a good photograph. I don't usually catch them but if I see another I will to try to get a better picture.

There's a strong possibility that these two names turn out to be synonyms. Both are rarely collected and only known from a couple of localities in WA and NT.
