Field Notes

Description:

A lonesome male found while surveying streams for the state to determine if these guys should be added to our state endangered species list. Note: I didn't place the location accurately so that this species won't be bothered as much as possible- they're popular in illegal trade, so the location shown is NOT where he was actually found.

Habitat:

Slow moving stream with sandy banks and fallen logs.

Notes:

Proposed for state endangered. This individual is a male and was marked/weighed/measure for study purposes.

Thank you! It was also just pointed out to me that these guys are listed on the IUCN as endangered, but I guess Maine hasn't officially recognized yet, hence the surveys
