Description:
There were four or five juveniles and both parents foraging together in the swamp. The juveniles are brown and white, while the adults are all white. The White Ibis is a tall wading bird with a long, decurved bill.
Habitat:
Spotted at Seven Devils Swamp. This is a large cypress swamp with lots of bottomland hardwoods. This is a bird of freshwater and estuarine wetlands—typically cypress swamps, bottomland hardwood and mangrove swamps, as well as freshwater marshes and salt marshes.
Notes:
The dependence of White Ibis on favorable feeding conditions in wetlands, the conspicuous nature of their large flocks and colonies, and their eye-catching appearance has made the species a symbol for wetland conservation and restoration.
