Field Notes

Description:

Medium sized caterpillar with cream, white and black lateral stripes. Orange/red feet, black head. Long, soft, pale hairs on the body.Defensive posture! These caterpillars are often found in groups but this one was all alone.

Habitat:

Connetquot River State Park Preserve. Temperate forest on a White Oak (Quercus alba).
