Description:
Like molten lava, this fungus appear to pour into bracket shaped fruiting bodies through cracks in bark. The underside of each bracket has tiny pores and forms the fertile surface.
Habitat:
Spotted on a dying branch of a Prunus tree. this species of Pycnoporus is seen in Temperate regions in Australia
Notes:
This fungus was dramatic in that it appeared like a layer between the bark and the wood of the tree - pouring out of cracks !
An attractive sight for passing motorists !
