Field Notes

Description:

A sandy colored Cup Moth with red-brown forewings and pale tan hind wings. About 9 mm long. The head, thorax and legs have hairs and scales that are mixed red-brown and tan (see pictures 5 and 6). This one is similar, but different from the previously spotted Cup Moth. Family Limacodidae.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light, Finca Argovia, Ruta de Café, Soconusco Area of Chiapas, about 2 hours north of Tapachula.
