Description:

Black beetle: At 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon, I went into the garage, and I saw a black beetle, resting on the concrete floor. The color of this beetle, was black. This black beetle, was five eights of an inch long, and seven sixteenth of an inch wide. It had a head, thorax, and an abdomen. It had two compound eyes, two antennae, and six legs. It. Had a black, shiny, smooth thorax. It's outer wing covers ( elytra ), was also, black and shiny. The elytra, had grooves, running down the length, of both sides of the elytra. This beetle had four wings. The six legs, had claws and spines on them. The head of this beetle, was also smooth. It had a golden ring, separating the head from the thorax. This beetle was alive, and able to move. Order: Coleoptera Beetles, are a group of insects, that form the Order Coleoptera. Species in the Order Coleoptera, are generally characterized by a particularly hard exoskeleton and hard forewings ( elytra ). Beetles are endopterygotes, which means, that they undergo complete metamorphosis. The basic body shape of a beetle, is sometimes variously described as elongate, oval, triangular, or anflike, among others. - All living things need: food, water, air, shelter ( cover ), and space to survive. -

Habitat:

The diversity of beetles, is very wide-ranging. They are found in almost all habitats, but are not known to occur in the sea, or in the polar regions. An animal's living space, is called its habitat. A habitat, is a place, where a plant or animal lives. Beetles are found on land and in fresh water, and can adapt to almost any environment. Beetles usually just live where they eat. Many beetles are on the ground, or under material, that's on the ground. Different kinds of beetle's, can be found on vegetation, in rotting wood or plants, in carrion, fungi, and dung. Beetle's are also found in dry deserts, and in cold temperatures of mountain tops.
