Field Notes

Description:

Chestnut colored body, dark head with white face and light blue bill. Head and bill look too big for the body so it give these ducks a goofy look.

Habitat:

While most choose the salty waters some can be found in freshwater. This one is found in a freshwater pond.

Notes:

One of the few Ruddy Ducks leftover. Most have already left the bay area to their breeding spots. This duck I spotted the previous visit almost a month ago in the same spot taking a bath like this visit.
