Field Notes

Description:

The only patch of these I found in these woods and they really took it over! A couple False Solomon's Seals snuck in, but they're only on the outer edge

Habitat:

Robinson Woods. Dominated by white pine, red oak and hemlock trees

Notes:

These woods seemed to have some distinctive plant territories: I would find a certain plant plentiful in one spot but then not encounter it again on the trail. I noticed this with a patch of Lily of the Valley as well as these Bunchberries. I also noticed some areas would only have one species of understory plant take over, such as patches of False Solomon's Seal, Cinnamon Fern, and Lily of the Valley (unlike this patch of Bunchberry that has other understory plants mixed in).
