Field Notes

Description:

Its body is completely black with little white spots where the hairs grow. It has a stripe of red-orange tufts growing down the centre of it back and a strip of white hairs growing down either side of it body. Its body is about 3cm long.

Habitat:

This little caterpillar came to me in a package of fresh thyme that was given to me. The thyme was grown in Israel, packaged in Ontario, Canada, and purchased in Nova Scotia. As its just the end of winter and the thyme has been in a package, I believe that it is probably from Israel.
