Description:

A very beautiful moth in black, brown, yellow and orange. The thorax has two long wide yellow bands and the abdomen has two metallic blue bands. Several individuals of this moth came to the light and interestingly, some had the tip of the abdomen completely black while others had the tip of the abdomen white or partially white (pictures 4 and 5). It is called the Orange Spotted Florella Moth or the Red-waisted Florella Moth.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light, Finca Argovia, Ruta de Café, Soconusco Area of Chiapas, about 2 hours north of Tapachula.
