Adult males have nice sooty gray body with white heads. Wings and tail are dark. Bill is orange with a black tip.
This 1st cycle is and overall black. Head, body, wings, tail, eyes and legs all black. Bill is pale on base and the bill its self is changing to the orange color with a black tip. Smaller then the other gulls resting here.

Habitat:

Mostly found on the west coast following the shoreline from Mexico to Canada.

Notes:

This species is borderline endangered. Due to them mostly nesting on a few islands off Baja, their populations depend on the success of the season and the now discontinued egg harvesting on the Isla of Rasa. This island now preserve and protects the nesting sites.
