Description:

Purple, spiky gall. I have consulted many plant identification guides and plant ID forums and nobody seems to be able to say what it is so I think this isn't a fruit of the plant, but rather a gall.

Habitat:

Campsite right outside Yellowstone. I think the plant is either Chrysothamnus or Artemisia
