Field Notes

Description:

Possibly Stereum sanguinolentum or bleeding stereum or red rot stereum. It has large flat crust like fruiting body, appearing like covered with olive-green dust like material, developing shelf-like structures on edges.

Habitat:

Found on dead and decaying logs on forest floor, mainly oak forest in Geneva lake valley - however, the species is mainly connected to coniferous trees.
