Field Notes

Description:

Adults are metallic green above and grayish white below, with near-black wings. The male has a gorget that is iridescent red to dull black depending on the angle.

Habitat:

Spotted in a backyard tree. Mixed woods nearby.

Notes:

Ranges in eastern North America.
