Field Notes

Description:

This dark 6 mm long leafhopper looked like a dried stipule at the axil of this plant. It had a lance-shaped crown with a low profile ridge and pale eyes. The posterior part of the thorax was raised. A small black scutellum was flush with the base of the wings. Wings were tented and appeared translucent at the trailing margin which made the dark veins stand out.

Habitat:

Spotted on an Acacia shrub.

Notes:

Still looking for an ID but I might need some help with this...

My thanks to Ken Walker for his suggestion. It could be Ledropsis sp. There is just L.frogatti ( also known as L.crocina) reported in Australia - see reference

Species ID Suggestions

Thank you Stephen. Like most other spottings lately, I was very lucky with this one too. Especially with our dog tugging at the leash. As far as the ID goes, I've looked at everything on nsw.gov link under both tribes. There are a few others that a are a little closer in the WA Agricultural website but no matches...I'll keep looking.
You may not get it closer than that. I thought it may be Petalocephala sp. but the in the image in the keys the nose is very difficult to see properly http://www1.dpi.nsw.gov.au/keys/leafhop/species/pboheman.htm
