Description:
Two protruding purple fiddle heads of an indigenous Old World forked fern.
Habitat:
Spotted in the shade of the tropical rainforest in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, at an altitude of about 5000 ft. These ferns were in proximity to many volcanic steam vents which emit toxic gases.
