Field Notes

Description:

Large black biting fly. Approximately 1 1/4" long

Notes:

As large as any biting fly I've ever seen. Don't recall ever seeing an all black biting fly. I'm calling it Darth
Vador.

Species ID Suggestions

Comments (1)

This is very likely a Black Horse Fly. However, the distance from the subject makes me a bit hesitant to give you a 100% on that. Here is a link: https://bugguide.net/node/view/17584
