Field Notes

Description:

"Red-necked wallabies are distinguished by their black nose and paws, white stripe on the upper lip, and grizzled medium grey coat with a reddish wash across the shoulders." (Wiki) I was going to write my own description but then I read "grizzled medium grey coat..." and I was sold...can't top that! :D

Habitat:

The female with the joey having a feed out of the pouch were hanging around down near the big car park and the second one was feeding quietly up near the general store at the Bunya Mountains National Park.

Notes:

The Bunya Mountains is part of my old stomping ground when I was growing up. My family would head up for a BBQ and I remember that area when there was no tar car park...we'd just park under a tree and run around. These beautiful wallabies were a constant sight!
